LMAO love that commentator, "its an extremely skill based game cos you have to manually block and attack".
pretty much every first person rpg and 3rd person rpg i have played in recent times requires manual attack and block lol.
Looks a bit like that limited chivalry that ppl played.
can you improve your character by how you play?

You can level up and make your character better each lvl, also you can buy a ton of different weapons etc, and when you hit lvl 30 you can "retire" and you start again but you get something called a Loom point and you can sell it or use it on your gear to make it better. Also, ive played with that commentator, killed him once too =)

How is it confusing? Well, for once there are TONS and TONS and TONS of new ore, shards, colorful dodads and whatnot. You never know what you will need, so you just have to collect all that crap.
Also requirements for the cool stuff are so high end (or at least that's what it feels like if you start fresh) that it will take ages to get all the nice goodies. Which is frustrating when you know that you have already 5 beacons on the vanilla server, which took ages to farm.
Furthermore there is no balance to all that new stuff.
Finally there's the issue of being so cramped together and the requirement of also staying like that, or otherwise the server will loose its cool.
Wasn't fun for me. Got frustrated very quickly.

yes most of the ores have a use and yes there are alot of them, but there are things to make that easier, like larger chests, barrels, canvas bags for when you are travelling or enderpouches. yes the high end stuff is expensive, it adds longevity and we all had to start fresh, but now ppl have it easier when they start cos there are ppl that have resources spare and can help out etc. cramped together, lol stay within 10,000 blocks is all i ask, if you cant find a spot within 20k blocks by 20k blocks then you shouldnt be playing any kind of minecraft lol . there is plenty of balance, remember you dont have to use it if you dont want to. but yes it is a bit overwhelming at the start, ask anyone, we all struggled, but look at DK, struggled, gave up, came back (several times lol), now he has the hang of it, he loves it . I guess its not every ones taste. PS: love the tower builds by your new village area, that place is looking awsome.

Last time I was on I tried to move to another spot because Ode had his base within 800blocks or so from mine. After some 2000 blocks of travel I reached a swamplike area with bottomless water holes that seemed to go on forever. Looked like broken to me. That's basically when I gave up.
Well, I'll discuss this thing with shigure. I'd really like to play on a server with other people on, but I find FTB overwhelming. Whatever.
Thanks for the PS.

yeah i know the bit you are on about, some kind of biome, but it is horrible when you come across one of those. plenty of land in the -x and -z i believe .
